The Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous wrapped up this weekend. It's a fantastic winter festival full of contests, events and people dressing up in gold-rush-inspired costumes.
The weather over the weekend was too warm for the snow sculptors' liking, but Axel and I thought it was fantastic for walking around Shipyards Park and enjoying the sights. Axel said his first word, "dog", last week and he got lots of practice pointing out all the dogs in the park.
We've settled in for winter here in Whitehorse, under a beautiful blanket of fresh snow.
People are already preparing for Christmas, so I figured I should get around to sharing some Halloween photos.
Chris, Axel and I all got sick with a bad stomach flu shortly after Axel's party, so we ended up scrapping our plans for epic costumes this year. Fortunately, there's no shortage of costumes around here, so we were still able to dress up (in multiple outfits!)
On the big night, we all dressed in matching flight suits and aviator sunglasses, for a whole family of Top Guns.
I hope you are enjoying the long weekend! We've been having lots of fun with Easter stuff now that Axel is old enough to be excited about bunnies and eggs.
Axel helped blow out and dye the eggs. I'm impressed that we only broke one!
We used food colouring, water, vinegar and a bit of olive oil to get some pretty marbled eggs. And it was easy enough for a two-and-a-half-year-old (with a bit of supervision).
We decided to cook a turkey and invited a few friends over for dinner. I really need to host dinner parties more often, they're so fun!
I set the table with cute napkin bunnies (thanks Martha Stewart!) and flowers in some stuff from our silver tea set collection.
Since we have a huge collection of bunny ears for the Billion Bunny March, I had enough for everyone at dinner.
